What Is A Mass Timber Construction?
Mass timber is a new construction technology that sequesters environmental carbon and can replace more traditional, heavy carbon-emitting materials like steel and concrete. Mass timber is made by thinning forests of small-diameter trees that are often the tinder for forest fires if left unmanaged. This spares the old growth large trees. Mass timber has a warm aesthetic including: exposed beams, decking, and hanging barn doors; and research has documented the positive impact of living in a natural environment on the mental and emotional wellbeing of tenants.
